Imagine receiving a letter from a Lawyer with bright letters saying URGENT PLEASE OPEN! You look at the letter convinced that it’s just another advertisement, but your curiosity gets the best of you and you tear into it.
Only to find to your surprise that it’s from an attorney handling your Grandmother’s estate. To your amazement, he advises that you had been left an inheritance, $100,000 plus “my bible and all it contains.” So you scramble down to the lawyer’s office, scoop up the check and race to the bank forgetting about the Bible. You eventually go back later that day and take the bible but knowing what the Bible contained, and because you’re not religious you don’t even bother to open it. Once you get home you stick the Bible in the closet up on the shelf, but you proudly show off your new riches.
You squander the money away on “STUFF” and by the time its gone you don’t have ANYTHING to show for it. So over the next 50 years you live as a pauper, scraping for every meal. Finally you become so destitute, you begin to fall into depression, out of desperation you remember that Bible you stuck on the shelf in the closet. You reach up and bring it down, blow off the dust and as you open it your trembling hands drop it onto the floor, flinging it open to reveal a $100 bill between every page. Then you realize, you have lived as a pauper, simply because of your prejudice. You thought you knew what the Bible “CONTAINED”.
Now, I pray you see the meaning behind this…. Trusting in the riches of this world will destroy… Believe me, some of this teaching is part of MY story…. for so many years I trusted in the wealth of this world and it ALMOST destroyed me….
The Bible contains riches beyond imagination…Please pick up His word, begin to read it, ask for understanding and let it begin to consume you.
